The Summerdale Line - Background & Updates
I started the Summerdale Line only in August 2006. As it stands at the moment, the line can easily
run as intended and almost handle all the stock I currently own. The current layout is end to end, but
a large extension is currently underway. It starts in my shed, at the bottom of the garden with two small loco
storage sidings, a couple of freight sidings, and a double sided platform. In this area inside the shed I have
added scenics and detailing. Pictures can be seen in the gallery section.
The single track line goes out through the shed wall, up the garden, where it terminates on an average sized, double sided
platform. The new extension, being constructed currently [March 2007], starts from here.
I will cover construction of the trackbed on one of the construction pages.
One of my main aims for the layout was to be easily expandable in the future. A new extension is already underway.
The extension will eventually make the entire layout into a "P" shape. It continues the line up the garden, round the back
of my dad's large shed, [where there is a cutting and considerable gradient], across the top of the garden, back down
the opposite side, and across a wall, that centrally spans the width of the garden, to rejoin the original track.
See the "Extension" page for in depth details.
